Relation to Carbon Labeling

Energy used to make products nearly always involves some carbon emissions. So energy inputs reported on product labeling can typically be translated into carbon emissions if the sources of that energy are know. However, it is better to translate the raw data used to calculate energy used for production into carbon emissions. That can provide a more detailed and accurate picture of resulting carbon emissions. However, some carbon emissions are caused by other inputs to make a product besides energy. Chemical and biological processes often produce greenhouse gasses.
